You started seeing it on draft beer lists in places like Leon’s Full Service last year – they don’t really serve anything that sucks.  You’ve had one or two on the patio this spring at The Midway Pub, one of the best beer bars in the city. Now, you can have one of Atlanta’s best local beers at home. Wild Heaven Craft Beers, the Decatur, Ga. based brewing company that launched eight short months ago, is now selling both their Invocation Belgian-style Golden Ale and Ode to Mercy Imperial Brown Ale in 12 ounce bottles (sold as a 4-pack).

Wild Heaven Craft Beers is the labor of love of Nick Purdy, founding publisher of Paste magazine. With recipe development by brewmaster Eric Johnson of Trappeze Pub in Athens, these two beers have taken off like a (bottle) rocket. Wild Heaven can now be found in more than 100 bars and restaurants in Atlanta, Athens, Savannah, Augusta, Birmingham and Huntsville.

As of this past Tuesday, Wild Heaven bottles are now available at Ale Yeah! in Decatur, Ansley Wine Merchants, Cook’s Warehouse in Decatur, Your Dekalb Farmer’s Market, all locations of Green’s Discount Beverage Stores, Hop City Craft Beer & Wine on the Westside and Smoke Rise Bottle Shoppe in East Atlanta. All intown Whole Foods locations will also be stocking the local brew, as well.

I’m really excited about this. The Ode of Mercy is the best new beer I’ve tried in a long time!
